![]() The person creating the server (hosting) will need to make sure that port forwarding is set up if his connection runs through a router and also make sure that his firewall software (if any) is set to allow connections from the internet on port 21000. If you're playing from different houses/internet connections, the person joining will have to enter the public IP address of the Server's Internet connection (the server can usually find this out be visiting ). Leave the ":21000" in place, that's the default port number and will be correct unless the server has changed it. If you're playing in the same house on a home network - the person joining needs to put the local IP address of the server machine in the space provided. At this point we again diverge to two possibilities: Once the server is started (at the mission selection screen) the other player can join. Whichever of you is playing on the more powerful machine should choose "Create Server" instead of "Join Server". I've noticed that when I go to 'Join server' it automatically shows ':2100'. Reason: Timeout.' Now, I'm just gonna have a guess that those words mean I've done something wrong. Recently I've had my eyes on IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover. We tried putting the ip addresses straight into the 'join server' area to join whoever was hosting, but it would always just say 'Please Wait', then after a while say something along the lines of 'Connection attempt to remote host failed. So I Jumped into IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 today and did some multiplayer. We basically know nothing about all that 'ip' stuff. That said, I now have IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, along with my father, and we're trying to find a way to play against each-other, and neither of us can figure it out. I've been playing it for quite a while, however always on my dad's computer and never really missions, just seeing how many things I can shoot.
